Dish brush
A handheld brush with stiff bristles used to scrub dishes, cookware, and other kitchenware clean.
Classification
- Mechanisms
- abrading
- Tasks
- wash, clean
- Materials
- nylon bristle with a plastic or wood handle
- Historical materials
- natural bristle (boar hair or plant fiber, e.g. tampico/palmyra) with a wood handle
Principles
Bristle-tuft mechanical abrasion — stiff bristles dislodge stuck-on residue that a sponge's soft foam can't;concentrates cleaning force into discrete bristle tips rather than spreading it across a continuous soft surface;rigid handle keeps hands out of hot or soapy water and off the abrasive bristle head.
